Portmahomack
Portmahomack is the main village on the Fearn Peninsula, in Easter Ross, sitting at its north end. It has a sandy beach and some of the finest views of the hills along the north east coast of Scotland looking across the outer Dornoch Firth. It also has a famous Pictish Museum and a 9 hole golf course.
Nearby is the village of Rockfield with a beach with fascinating rock formations and also a fine coastal walk to Hilton of Cadboll where there is also a Pictish stone. There is also a coastal walk along the shore to Inver, where there is a hotel, and a popular coastal walk out to the lighthouse at Tarbat Ness, one of the tallest mainland lighthouses in Scotland.
